20-5A still going strong, leads the pack across the state with three remaining teams
After two weekends of UIL Class 5A playoffs, only two districts have as many as three teams left playing and one of those districts is from the Houston area. In fact, District 20-5A is the lone Houston ISD 5A district in the area and now the only district in the area with three playoff teams still alive: Lamar, Westside and Bellaire.
In Region IV, District 30-5A is the only other 5A district that can boast three remaining playoff teams, with La Joya, Mission Sharyland and McAllen still alive.
Six other districts, including 24-5A (Alvin, Brazoswood) and 14-5A (Georgetown, Cedar Park), still have two remaining playoff teams.
Ten districts from around the state have been eliminated from the playoffs after two rounds. From the Houston area, 15-5A, 17-5A, 18-5A and 22-5A have had all four of their playoff teams eliminated after the second round.
