It was hot, it was humid, it was down right miserable at times, but oh what another great year its been for the Taso tournament, a tournament of meager beginnings seven years ago and grandiose visions of something big. The Houston Baseball Umpires obviously knew what they were doing as the TASO Tournament has realized much more than grandiose visions of something big. It has become a staple in our baseball community providing much needed scholarship money to the ones who matter the most, our kids. It has become The Baseball Event of the fall. September just wouldnt be the same without it.

So as I toiled through the dog days of the 2007 TASO tournament, I did so with pride. Proud that I was invited to come along for the ride. Proud to be able to contribute to our game. Proud that we have an organization such as TASO in our Baseball Community. Proud that I am able to promote these athletes who are truly the last amateurs left in our sport. Amateurs who work so hard, who cant wait for the next practice, the next game, the next at bat. They are whom this tournament is for, and they should all be proud knowing they contributed to one of our games greatest events. An event the entire Baseball Community should be proud of.

So I ask you, the Baseball Community, to please join me at Minute Maid Park Saturday, September 22, at 10 AM for the 2007 Academy / TASO-Houston Baseball Umpires Scholarship Tournament Championship. Join me in supporting some of the true Champions of our game.
