The bottom half would prove to be fruitful for the Highlanders when Zach LaCanfora reaches on an error (courtesy runner Billy Goldrick), Avery Ortiz singles then Drew Romo smacked a walk-off/2RBI-2B to left field improving the Highlanders to 10-2 in 12-6A.
Klein Oak Junior RHP Ben Content fanned 16 Spring Woods Tigers in the Panthers 4-1 victory improving them to 8-3 in 15-6A. Content went the distance, 7 innings in the win.
Cy Falls defeated Langham Creek 5-1 behind the pitching of Riley Backs and the bats of Tyriece Silas - HR/RBI/2R; and Beau Billings - 2-4/RBI. The Eagles improves to 10-4 in the jumbled up 17-6A where they are now in 3rd place.
The Chavez Lobos made history on Thursday as the defeated the Bellaire Cardinals for the 1st time in the school's 17 year history. The Lobos trailed Bellaire most of the evening 3-0 & 3-1 until the bottom of the 6th when Vicente Jimenez, Hector Briseno, and Thomas Melchor all singled. Following a Jacob Jimenez strikeout Jacob Coronado smacked a 2RBI/1B to LF and Derek Guerra drives in the go ahead run (4-3) with an RBI/1B to LF. Jacob Coronado would slam the door on the Cardinals in the 7th coaxing a 2-ground-outs and a strikeout giving the Lobos their 1st ever win over the Bellaire Cardinals.
Clayton Aguilar doubled in Chase Keng in the bottom of the 6th at Deer Park giving the Deer the 1-0 lead. Adrian Gonzalez relieved Peyton Sherlin in the top of the 6th where he had the bases loaded and 1-out. Gonzalez picked up a huge strike out of Mark Gomez and coaxed a pop-up from Chris Villareal to get out of the jam. Gonzalez slammed the door in the 7th going K, K, F8 and the Deer claim sole possession of 1st place in 22-6A.
Clear Brook moved oh so much closer to a possible playoff bid when they defeated Alvin 6-3 on Thursday. The Wolverines are now locked in a fourth place tie at 6-5 with Clear Creek, and Friendswood. Nate Blain (3B), Reggie McCalister (2B), and Gavin Machado (2B), all had extra-base hits in the 6-3 victory.
ClearFalls handed the Dickinson Gators their 3rd loss in district play, 6-5 on Thursday. The Knights' Jaden Horlacher would score the winning run on a passed ball in the top of the 7th.
In the Private School ranks; Concordia Lutheran's Shane Baz, known for his 97mph fastball, single handedly took out Kelly Catholic with his bat on Thursday night. Baz went 3-for-4 and smacked 2 home-runs, a double, and 7 RBI while scoring twice. Concordia would go on to win the game 9-6
