I realize that this is a high school baseball website. However, with in a category named "everything else," how can someone possibly go "off
topic"? And if so, what I am about to write is about the best reason one could ever have for doing so. I just found out something and felt the need to
shout it out into cyberspace, even if no one else ever hears it.
My nephew Adam fought long and hard to become a member of our nation's Army's most elite fighting force, the Green Berets. I cannot even begin to tell you the physical, emotional, and psychological hell that he went through in his quest to be one of the very best. Well, after literally years of training and a month in total seclusion who-knows-where doing who-knows-what, with no outside world contact whatsoever, Adam found out that he passed all stages of his training and will join the very select ranks of the United States Army's Green Berets. Graduation is at Fort Bragg North Carolina on July 10th.
48 year old litigation attorneys are not supposed to have heros. However, knowing what Adam went through to achieve his dream of serving this Nation at the highest level truly makes him a hero in my book.
The sacrifices that the men and women of our Nation's fighting forces make today are what give today's crop of high school athletes the chance to become the major leaguers of tomorrow. Congratulations, Adam. You can't even begin to know how proud I am of you.
