USA Baseball has selected their 32 man 18U Trials Roster from this past
weekend's Tournament of Stars in Cary, North Carolina. The 32 man roster will now compete in inters quad workouts and games and will be pared down to a 22
man roster on Aug. 22.
Drake Roberts, 2011, Brenham and Jameson Taillon, 2010, The Woodlands were both selected from performances in the Tournament of Stars.
Roberts, a 5'8" slick fielding, fleet footed infielder for the Brenham Cubs, was utilized as an outfielder for Team (NABF) where he was 8-for-15 w/2B/2RBI/4BB/1K/3SB-3AT. An H5AB; 4A All-Houston First Team selection, Roberts has been a starter for Brenham since his freshman year and currently is a member of the Houston Heat Silver 18U for the simmer.
Taillon, a 6'6" RHP for The Woodlands Highlanders was recently named the #1 prospect of the class of 2010 by Perfect Game USA and has verbally committed to Rice University. He was named to the H5AB All Houston First Team in 2009. Taillon participated in the Tournament of Stars as a member of Team P.O.N.Y. where he made 1 relief and 1 start w/7IP/4H/1R/1ER/1BB/9K facing 25 batters and surrendering 1 home run. Taillon's ERA for the weekend was 1.29.
